An Advanced Option For Missing Teeth
Dental Implants
Whatever the cause, missing teeth can create a host of problems. Self-esteem often suffers, and you may experience limited dietary options. Your oral health is at risk as well. If you don’t replace a lost tooth, you could lose up to 20 percent of adjacent teeth in the next four to eight years due to increased use of the remaining dentition. Dental implants, which are small metal posts, can renew the appearance and vibrancy of your smile
The Modern Approach
Unlike a traditional partial, denture or bridge, dental implants are artificial tooth roots that a trained specialist surgically places in the jawbone. Dr. Gillespie and Dr. Felicetta can then attach a permanent crown to each post; the resulting restorations will look and feel just like the real thing. We can also secure your removable prosthetic with dental implants, which improves stability. For example, we can convert a removable denture into an implant-retained prosthesis which can dramatically improve eating and quality of life.
Why Choose Implants?
If you want to live life without worrying about missing teeth or temporary replacements, dental implants will give you the freedom to do just that. Patients can say good-bye to messy denture creams and embarrassing slippage. Dental implants offer solid, attractive replacement teeth, and with proper care, implants have a 95 to 98 percent success rate. You can once again chew, speak, and smile with confidence.
Implant Process
After an exam and consultation to evaluate the supporting structures we will recommend taking a 3 dimensional scan of the future implant locations. This scan along with your models are merged to create a 3D printed surgical guide to ensure the accurate and predictable placement of the implant. The implant must now heal for approximately 4 months prior to a crown being placed. Once the implant crown is placed it will function and look just like your natural tooth!
LEARN ABOUT DENTURES AND PARTIALS
A smile just isn’t a smile if it’s incomplete. Missing teeth cause a host of problems, from difficulty speaking and eating to low self-confidence to jawbone deterioration. Don’t give up on your smile. Advances in dental materials and technology have made full and partial dentures more lifelike and comfortable than ever.
What is a Partial?
A partial denture, commonly referred to as simply a partial, consists of multiple teeth on a gum colored base. The teeth are not in a row, but rather spread across the base to fit like a puzzle with your existing teeth. A partial is normally secured with clips or brackets, but unlike a bridge, a partial is removable.
What is a Denture?
A full denture is a complete top or bottom row of teeth mounted on a gum-colored base. Dentures can be closed or open palate, and they may require denture adhesive to hold them in place.
Implant-Supported Dentures and Partials
Dental implants are small titanium posts anchored into the jawbone. If you prefer a secure full or partial denture and do not want clips or adhesive, then consider implant-supported dentures. In a brief surgery, an implant dentist can secure a few dental implant posts to hold your dentures in place. With implant-supported dentures, you won’t have to worry about slippage, and your prosthetic will feel safe and sound.
