Exceptional, Individualized Dental Care for Every Visit
Comprehensive Preventative Care & Dental Hygiene
We love to see you smile! Dental hygiene is more that just brushing your teeth and dental cleanings are more than just cleaning your teeth. At Liberty Hill Dental, we strive in educating our patients on the importance of good oral health and how it connects with the rest of your body systemically. Currently there are 57 systemic conditions that are affected by the condition of our oral health. Our philosophy is not only to treat the oral cavity and reduce the signs of inflammation and disease but to become an integral part of your health care team. Even if you brush and floss your teeth faithfully, it is important that you have your teeth professionally cleaned on a regular basis. It’s even more important for those that aren’t quite as meticulous about oral hygiene.
From teaching flossing techniques to explaining the importance of good oral hygiene, our hygienists and will make you feel comfortable. We carry Carifree, ProFresh, Oral-B, and Sonicare products allowing you to continue good oral hygiene on your own with confidence.
What we provide is more than a great dental experience for the whole family, it’s the care you need for a lifetime of oral and dental health.
What should I expect at my routine dental visit?
During your visit, our hygienist will visit with you about your oral and dental health and may discuss other dental concerns you may have. Your dentist will also consult with you about any concerns you may have and other treatments or procedures that you may need to consider. Our number one goal is to provide exceptional, individualized care each and every visit.
Because your oral hygiene needs may not be the same as someone else, your hygiene appointment will be tailored specifically to your needs, however many cleanings will have a lot of similarities. Your health is important to us and we will begin your appointment by reviewing your health history with you. We want to identify any issues that may necessitate special precautions during your dental hygiene visit. For example, if you now take blood pressure medication or perhaps had a joint replacement within the last 6 months to a year, there are some risks you may be unaware of that may require pre-medications prior to your cleaning. Your time is important to us and so is your health so we want to make sure we have all of your current health information before we get started.
What is included in a regular dental visit?
An appointment for your regular cleanings will typically include the following:
✓ A review of your health history
✓ An examination of your overall health and oral hygiene
✓ Possibly taking dental X-rays
✓ Removing plaque, biofilm and tartar deposits with Guided Biofilm Therapy
✓ Demonstrating proper cleaning techniques for your teeth
✓ Risk Assessment for tooth decay, gum disease or bone loss
✓ An evaluation of your need for tooth restoration or replacement
✓ Examining your bite and jaw for any joint related problems
✓ Examining your gum tissue and measuring to determine if you are at risk for periodontal disease
✓ Assessing your sleep habits and airway
What is Guided Biofilm Therapy?
Guided Biofilm Therapy (GBT) is the scientifically proven method of providing the most comfortable, efficient, and effective prophylactic experience for our patients. Here at Liberty Hill Dental, we are no longer polishing and scraping teeth with traditionally uncomfortable and unpleasant instruments. Instead, we have upgraded to Swiss technology that uses water and erythritol powder to remove biofilm and plaque from the oral cavity. With Airflow technology, our hygienists can safely remove plaque and biofilm up to 4mm underneath the periodontal pocket, and with Piezon technology, we can work up to 9mm subgingivally for hard to reach tartar. Our patients experience “NO PAIN” and are excited to come back for their hygiene appointments!

What is the difference between plaque and tartar?
Plaque is the sticky, colorless film that constantly forms on your teeth. Bacteria live in plaque and secrete acids that cause tooth decay and irritate gum tissue. This irritation causes an inflammatory reaction by your body that can eventually lead to gingivitis and periodontal disease. If plaque is not removed regularly by tooth brushing and flossing, it hardens to create calculus (also known as tartar). Calculus cannot be removed with a toothbrush; only a dental professional can remove it during an oral cleaning. To keep plaque and calculus under control, it is essential to brush your teeth twice every day, floss at least once every day, and see your dental professional for regular cleanings.
If you are noticing any yellowing around your gum line or if it has been more than 6 months since your last dental visit, call us today to schedule your next dental cleaning. We look forward to helping you achieve optimal oral and dental health!
